Team Etchingham

Isle of Wight - Randonee

It's a 100km folks, that's around 63 miles in old money. Add to that a further six or seven to travel to and from the starting point. It's an undulating rides with a couple of slopes where your arse is going to have to become a stanger to the saddle. Some awesome views to be had on the route that takes in plenty ofcoastline — The Needles, Freshwater, the colourful yachts in the Solent, The Sphinx, The Golden Gate Bridge, Narnia, to name but a few. You'll need to put some miles in your legs beforehand but generally it is not that strenuous.

banbury 4

Day 1: Prologue

7 miles circular route starting and finishing at the hardwick housing estate. Couple of decent downhills but long tiring uphills. Get that under 20 minutes and you'll be dishing out some early ham & eggs.

Stage 1. Warwickshire 40 miles

This stage has the hardest climb of the three days. Welcome to sunrise hill a 16% badboy that will have you jettisoning any excess baggage i.e. time to cast aside any morals that might be weighing you down. Pass through edghill, scene of a famous civil war battle and home to Edward 'the equaliser' Woodward. Enjoy the downhill to Kineton where you turn and start heading for home. Climb through hanwell and then it's a 2km sprint for home.

Day 2: stage 2. Northamptonshire 50 miles

No real % climbs but between 20 to 30 hills that sap your legs and following day 1 this will have you reaching for the malt loaf. Undulating riding through real redneck country until you climb to farthingstone where you will have the best chance to set a top speed record. Wizz through village of the year 1991 in Helmdon and climb home through the now familiar cropedy, great bourotn and Hanwelll.

Day 3: stage 3. Oxfordshire 30 miles

Brace yourself for some stunning countryside. They might as well have Elgar playing in the background today as you roll through north Oxfordshire. Pass the home of the amazingly large testicled sheep, zip through upper Heyford air force base and climb past Boughton castle, yep you got it, where they filmed 3 men and a little lady. Finish the stage with a sprint drag alongside Drayton school.

Time trial. Edgehill 2 miles.

Wo, Wo, Wo there horsey what the fuck is this? just barely time to get your bottles of jungle juice replenished before the peloton heads back out to see the equaliser. A beautiful 2 mile stretch of flat recently laid tarmac should be enough to settle the podium places. with mummsy Wilkinson waiting with her stop watches and kettle at the ready you're bound to be home in time for tea and medals.
